Abstract

This presentation was given during the MIG Seminar at Berkeley on August 28, 2002. It was the openning seminar for the Fall 2002 MIG Seminar which was the last semester the seminar was offered. Several topics were discussed including:

  1. The history of the MIG Seminar including the architecture used over the years to produce the webcast is described.
  2. The architecture for the Fall 2002 webcast.
  3. Introduction to the Berkeley Lecture Webcasting System developed by BMRC and transferred to the campus Educational Technology Services organization.
  4. Introduction to the audio/video infrastructure used for distributed collaboration and lecture webcasting including a discussion of the problems operating this infrastructure.
  5. Introduction to the Indiva middleware for controling audio/video devices and streaming media resources.
