I joined Riverbed as VP of Engineering in December 2003. Previously, I was at netVMG as VP of Software from May 2002 to December 2003. Prior to that, I worked at FastForward Networks starting in September 1998, and it was acquired by Inktomi in summer 2000. I continued to work at Inktomi as a Director of Engineering until March, 2002.

I was a researcher in the Berkeley Multimedia Research Center headed by Professor Larry Rowe. I was working primarily with RSVP and the Open Extensible Gateway, an Active Networks research project. During this work (1998), I created a series of lectures covering multicast, multicast routing, RTP, SRM, RLM, integrated services, differentiated services, RSVP, network address translation, virtual private networks, and Active Networks.

Win32 Work

• NT Utilities: some Windows NT utilities and device driver building aids.
• Windows 95 Utilities: some Windows 95 utilities.

• Tcl/Tk 8.0 Info: I recently ported Expect to Windows NT.
• Tknt, is a Window NT/95 port of Tcl 7.4, Tk 4.0, Tcl-DP, Tix, BLT, and [incr Tcl]. This is not being worked on anymore since John Ousterhout's group at Sun supports the official Win32 port. If I get a chance, I'll port some pieces of Tknt to the official Sun port.

• I have written a few Windows NT device drivers for multimedia devices to use with our Continuous Multimedia Toolkit.

Linux Work

• VFAT filesystem for compatibility with Windows 95 and Windows NT long filenames on the FAT filesystem.
• Joliet CDROM extension support. Joliet is a Microsoft extension to the ISO 9660 standard.
• FAT32 allows larger partitions with a maximum cluster size of 4K.

Wine Work

I had quite a bit of trouble getting a configuration that worked for me on a laptop with Cirrus Logic 7543 and 7548 video chips. A list of configurations that has worked for some other people is provided here.

Security Work

• SSH port to Windows NT
• Patch or two for SSLeay
  I used to be employed at Valicert, Inc, a company specializing in Digital Certificate Revocation. Valicert is using SSLeay in its work, and I created some patches for SSLeay so it could use BSAFE. This should make using SSLeay legal for RSA within the U.S.
